Event Organizers
The Health Unit is your partner in hosting a healthy, safe and welcoming event for participants, volunteers and staff. If you’re planning an event in Leeds, Grenville and/or Lanark, remember to notify the Health Unit about the event when it’s required. Review our event resources on food, inclusive and welcoming events, transportation and more. Contact us if you would like to speak to a public health professional about the health and safety of your event.
Notify the Health Unit about the Event
- Event co-ordinators are required to notify the Health Unit of your intent to sell or serve food and/or offer personal services (e.g. tattooing) at special events. We request this information at least 30 days prior to the event. Complete the event co-ordinator notification form.
- Food vendors at special events are required to complete the food vendor application within 10 working days prior to the event.
- Farmers’ market boards/managers are required to notify the Health Unit of the operations and the vendors that will be attending the market. Complete the Farmers’ Market Notification Form. Upon receiving notification, the Health Unit will conduct an assessment to determine if your market is eligible to receive the exemption from the Ontario Food Premise Regulation.
- All food vendors intending to operate a booth at a farmers market are required to notify the Health Unit using the Compliance Checklist for Vendors.
- Personal Service Operators (e.g. tattoo artists, hair dressers) are required to complete the notice to operate a new personal service site at least 14 days before offering the service at the event.
- Have questions about the reporting requirements? Call 1-800-660-5853 and ask for Community Health Protection.
