Rabies Immune Globulin (Rablg) Administration

December 23, 2019

Rabies Immune Globulin (Rablg) Administration Returned to Previous Regular Practices

Please be advised that the Ministry of Health has informed health units that the supply of Rabies Immune Globulin (Rablg) has stabilized and immune globulin sparing guidelines no longer apply.

Therefore the administration of Immunoglobulin should be returned to previous regular practices using the current National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NASI), i.e. If not anatomically feasible to infiltrate the entire dose of Rablg into the wound/contact site then the remaining volume of RabIg should be injected using a separate needle and syringe, intramuscularly at a site distant from the site of the vaccine administration.

Please remove any memo’s relating to Rabies Immune Globulin Sparing guidelines.
