Grade 7 Immunizations
Please watch this video from Sick Kids Hospital for advice on decreasing stress when getting vaccinated.
Which Immunizations are given in the Grade 7 School program?
- Meningococcal ACYW-135 one dose
- Hepatitis B two doses, 6 months apart
- HPV 9 two doses, 6 months apart
For more information on the diseases these prevent, possible side effects from the vaccines and what to expect, please review the Grade 7 Vaccine Consent Form and Grade 7 Vaccine Information Sheet.
The nurses will only give what is needed AND only if the parent has provided a signed consent form to the school.
The vaccines provided in the school program are free of charge. Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, 1990, students are required to receive the Meningococcal ACYW-135 Vaccine
This is not the same meningococcal vaccine they received as a young child.
Hepatitis B and HPV are strongly recommended to be given. If they are not received as part of the school program, there is a cost to receive these vaccines from your primary care provider.
- Students require fewer doses of these vaccines at this age to be fully protected
- To check what the Health Unit currently have on record for your child’s immunizations – you can use this ICON portal (will need their health card to sign in)
