Your sex partner has recently been treated for Chlamydia. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), caused by bacteria. Many people with Chlamydia do not know they have it because they have no symptoms and feel fine. If you have this infection, it will not go away on its own. It is important to know that Chlamydia can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics, usually in a single dose.
You may have been infected with Chlamydia.
It is important that you get treated even if you have no symptoms.
Chlamydia can cause serious health problems, including pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), testicular pain and swelling, and infertility (unable to get pregnant).
Make an appointment with your health care provider as soon as possible if you experience:
Lower stomach pain.
Pain during sex.
Vomiting.
Fever.
Pain or swelling in the testicles.
To protect your health, it is recommended that you visit your health care provider and take an antibiotic called azithromycin as soon as possible. If you are unable to see a health care provider right away, you may visit any of our confidential clinics for FREE testing and treatment.
If you are not able to see a health care professional within 1 week, you should take the enclosed medicine as soon as possible.
Do NOT take this medicine if any of the following are true:
You have allergies to antibiotics or other medications, especially azithromycin (Zithromax), erythromycin, and clarithromycin (Biaxin).
You are pregnant.
You have a history of heart problems including:
- prolonged heart cycle (QT prolongation)
- bradycardia (slow heart rate)
- cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heart beat)
- cardiac insufficiency (the heart has a hard time pumping blood to your body)
You are currently taking any other prescription medications (possibility of drug interactions).

Do NOT share or give this medicine to anyone else.
Do NOT have sex for 7 days.
It takes 7 days for the medicine to cure a Chlamydia infection, whether you have symptoms or not. It is important to avoid vaginal, oral and anal sex (even with a condom) for a full 7 days after you and your partner have completed treatment and all symptoms have disappeared.
