November 17, 2023

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit produces an Annual Community Report each year looking back at the previous year’s activities and programs.

At the Board of Health meeting last night, the 2022 Annual Report was introduced and is available on the Health Unit website for the public and partners.

For 2022, the theme is moving into recovery from the pandemic with a focus on partnership.  Programs and activities highlighted are:

  • Climate Change and its effects on emergency preparedness
  • Infectious Diseases – turning response into opportunity
  • Ensuring children have access to dental care
  • Managing emerging infections
  • Inspecting special events
  • Health Unit role in municipal planning
  • Reducing risk of rabies
  • Comprehensive school health focus
  • Substance Use Grant
  • Preventing youth from smoking and vaping

The report also contains a snap shot of the funding and expenditures in 2022 as well as a link to the financial audit.

“As we reflect on 2022,” says Dr. Linna Li, Medical Officer of Health for the Health Unit. “I am struck by all that we’ve achieved. Near the beginning of the year we were still very much in COVID-19 emergency response, and over the course of the year shifted to recovery from the emergency.”
