Local Climate Change Groups
Climate change can cause some people stress and anxiety and they may benefit from taking action and knowing that they are working on solutions. Check with your municipality to see if they have climate change committees. To learn more or to get involved, visit the websites of local groups taking action on climate change:
- Climate Network Lanark – The mission of the Network is to connect, co-ordinate, facilitate, initiate and support collaborative efforts and actions by and for the community to address the impacts of climate change through both mitigation and adaptation measures.
- Frontenac Arch Biosphere – a not-for-profit organization consisting of a small team of dedicated staff and a broader network of organizations and local communities working together to promote the sustainable development of the region by sharing information, knowledge and best practices. They promote solutions to live and work in harmony with nature with a commitment towards environmental sustainability.
- Rideau Environmental Acton League – conducts community-wide environmental projects and promotes environmental improvements within the Town of Smiths Falls and Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties.
- Leeds-Grenville Stewardship Council – The Council is a unique program in which a volunteer, community-based group works on environmental enhancement projects. It is a credible forum and resource for the many community-based stewardship/environmental groups in our community and works extensively with the partners to deliver projects.
- Sustainable North Grenville – Sustainable North Grenville was created to help raise awareness about sustainability issues in North Grenville, and to share information with those who would like to see our community become more sustainable.
