Who We Are

Healthy Babies, Healthy Children (HBHC) is a no-cost, voluntary home visiting program for families in Ontario.

Our staff who do home visits within Leeds, Grenville and Lanark include:

  • Public Health Nurses (PHNs)
  • Family Home Visitors (FHV)

What We Do

Healthy Babies, Healthy Children staff provides support, information and resources to help families get the best start possible. The program is open to you if you are pregnant or have young children who are not in school.

Anyone can refer to our program by calling 1-800-660-5853 extension 2467 and asking to speak with a Public Health Nurse or you can fill out the self-referral form.

Pregnancy Support

Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Staff can provide support, answer questions, connect you to your community and help you get ready for your baby. They also offer prenatal classes and mental health support to pregnant women and their families in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark.

Postpartum Support

A Public Health Nurse will phone you within 2 days of your discharge from the hospital and may offer to come to your home for a visit. Public Health Nurses can help you with feeding your baby, answer your questions and offer support to help you get used to life with your baby. They can also give you information about the programs and resources available in your area such as Baby Talk.

Early Childhood Support

The Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program supports families with children from pregnancy until they enter school. A Public Health Nurse and Family Home Visitor can provide information and support on many topics including sleep, healthy eating, behaviour, development, and play. They will also connect you with other community resources to help your child grow and develop.
