Caretaker

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a full-time (1.0 FTE), permanent Caretaker in our Brockville Office, with occasional coverage in the Smiths Falls office. The shift for this position will be evenings, Monday to Friday (3:00 PM – 10:00 PM).

Key Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior of assigned building(s), which include both office and clinical areas, performing checks of building systems and equipment, and performing other related duties associated with grounds and building caretaking. This position reports to Finance and Property Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Graduate;
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in a work environment with multiple floors, offices and meeting rooms;
  • Knowledge of the elements of office and building cleaning and appropriate cleaning products for the office and clinic settings;
  • Knowledge of the importance of infection control procedures;
  • Fit and able to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of a caretaker;
  • Ability to conduct fire extinguisher tests and generator tests;
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, flexibility and good decision making skills;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Able to deal with many competing demands in a calm, professional and independent manner;
  • Solid problem-solving abilities, ability to set priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Careful attention to detail;
  • Knowledge and proficiency in use of the Internet and various computer programs in a Windows environment, and other office equipment, including caretaking and janitorial equipment;
  • Confidentiality is essential;
  • Up to date immunizations, according to the Health Unit’s Employee Immunization and Mantoux Skin Testing Policy;
  • Criminal Record Check;
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Salary Range:

$41,314.00 to $45,099.60 annually (1.0 FTE), plus a comprehensive benefit package.
